The Stone Roses swapped for Blur at Coachella

OHMYGOSSIP — The Stone Roses have been replaced by Blur in this Friday’s (19.04.13) line-up at Coachella Festival after the Brit pop band drew a much bigger crowd last weekend.

The Stone Roses have been swapped for Blur at this week’s Coachella Festival. The veteran indie band are being changed with the Britpop group on this Friday’s line-up (19.04.13) after they drew a much smaller crowd than them at last weekend’s edition of the Californian festival.

On Wednesday night (17.04.13), the event’s website displayed a new order of main stage acts, listing The Stone Roses as starting their set at 9:55pm, with Blur closing from 11:35pm.

Although no official reason has been given, the ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ singers drew a relatively small crowd last weekend as festival-goers wandered off after Blur’s set, which was described as “the night’s best performance” by Rolling Stone magazine.

British icons The Stone Roses – who reunited in 2011 after 15 years apart – had played a lively set at the festival, featuring tracks including ‘Made Of Stone’ and ‘Waterfall’, but had one of the smaller headliner crowds, partly due to their relative obscurity with American audiences.

Blur – who performed fan-favourites like ‘Beetlebum’ and ‘Tender’ – were joined on stage by English actor Phil Daniels during their performance of ‘Parklife’ which received rapturous applause.

However, it has also been suggested the plan was always for the two bands to alternate headline slots since they both shared the top slot on the official Coachella poster.
