Britain’s Duchess Catherine is to visit a school on an estate where TV show ‘Shameless’ is filmed. The pregnant royal will be the special guest at Willows Primary School in Manchester, North West England – where the fictional Channel 4 comedy-drama, which tackles real life issues in its storylines, is filmed – to announce a new initiative by charities Place2Be and Comic Relief.
The scheme is being introduced to help people who are affected by alcohol and substance abuse and Benita Refson, chief executive of Place2Be, is delighted the duchess – who is due to give birth to her and Prince William’s first child in July – has agreed to attend the event later this month.
He said: “We are tremendously grateful that the duchess is supporting this project.
“It will allow us to reach even more of the children and families that need our help and ensure they face better prospects and brighter futures.”
Despite being in the latter stages of her pregnancy, Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton prior to her and William’s nuptials – still has a number of royal engagements scheduled, including one in June when she will launch a new ship, Royal Princess, at a special ceremony in Southampton, Southern England.
