Avril Lavigne: Wedding dance will be to our own song
OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger won’t sing at their upcoming wedding but they will have their first dance to one of their own songs.
Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger will have their first dance at their wedding to one of their own songs. The couple – who began dating after writing songs for Avril’s forthcoming fifth album together – are currently planning their nuptials and though the ‘Here’s to Never Growing Up’ singer isn’t sure whether they will sing at the reception, they will acknowledge their musical connection in some way.
Asked if they will sing at the wedding, Avril, 28, told ET Canada: “I don’t want to feel like I’m working at [it], because I’ll be like thinking, ‘OK, I’ve got to sing, so I’ve got to perform.’
“I think that we’ll just kind of play a song that’s maybe a song we wrote together as our first dance song, I don’t know.”
Avril – who was previously married to Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley – admitted the 38-year-old Nickelback singer has had little say in any of the wedding arrangements, but she thinks he is happy with that.
She said: “I want to go all out with this wedding. What’s most important is getting the dress, getting the wardrobe, the rings, location booked. All that’s taken care of.
“[Chad] doesn’t even know everything … I think when it comes to menu and stuff like that, I’ll get his opinion, but I kind of like leading the way and he’s just letting me do my thing.
“I think he’s happy with the direction it’s going in … I’m glad he’s OK with my style because it’s a little out there, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, do it, do your thing, whatever.’ He’s stoked. We’re excited.”
