Prince Harry to present Marathon medals
OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Prince Harry will present medals to the winners of several London Marathon races on April 21.
Britain’s Prince Harry will present medals to the winners of the London Marathon. The flame-haired royal – who is an official patron of the London Marathon Charitable Trust – will be on hand to award the victors of each discipline of the 26.2-mile race on April 21, elite men’s, women’s, wheelchair and IPC Athletics Marathon World Cup events.
Last year, Harry also presented the medals and joked his brother Prince William and Duchess Catherine – who is due to give birth to the couple’s first child in July – will be competing in this year’s London Marathon.
Speaking last April before it was known the duchess was expecting, he quipped: “I have been trying to get myself a place for years. I can’t get myself a place. What do you have to do?
“What’s fantastic is that my brother and his wife will be doing it next year, I think. He’s going to have to now, isn’t he?”
However, some people took his comments seriously before Clarence House later confirmed William and Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton prior to their nuptials in April 2011 – had no plans to race.
They said in a statement: “It was said in jest.”
