Royal baby to be named after Prince Philip?
OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Prince William and Duchess Catherine are thought to be considering naming their baby after Prince Philip if they have a boy because William is “very fond” of his grandfather.
Britain’s Prince William and Duchess Catherine are expected to name their baby after Prince Philip if they have a boy. The royal couple are thought to be favouring the moniker because William – whose full name is Prince William Arthur Philip – is “very fond” of his grandfather and his father Prince Charles also has the name in his full title, Charles Philip Arthur George.
A royal insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “The name Philip is in the frame for a boy.
“It will certainly have it somewhere in his name.
“It is popular with them at the moment and could even be the first name as William is very fond of his grandfather.”
The royal aide also revealed William is likely to chose the moniker if his and Catherine’s first child is a boy.
Last week, Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton prior to her and William’s marriage – revealed the couple have a shortlist of baby names, but admitted they are finding it “very difficult” to decide on their favourite.
She said: “We have a shortlist for both [boy and girl] but it’s very difficult … My friends keep texting me names.”
Elizabeth, Diana and Victoria are the bookmakers’ favourites should William and Catherine have a daughter, while George and Charles are the most favoured names for a boy.
Ladbrokes are offering 2/1 on the couple having a girl, and go 6/4 for a boy.
