Zara Phillips to train racehorse
OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Zara Phillips has agreed to help with the training of her husband’s racehorse, Monbeg Dude, to help the animal improve on his jumping technique.
Britain’s Zara Phillips has agreed to help with the training of her husband’s racehorse.
The blonde royal – who won a silver medal for Team GB in the three-day eventing competition at London 2012 – will share training duties of Monbeg Dude, the steeplechaser part-owned by Mike Tindall which managed to win Saturday’s (05.01.13.) Welsh National despite five notable jumping errors.
The mistakes were very obvious but the team are hoping queen horsewoman Zara – Queen Elizabeth’s eldest granddaughter – may make a difference.
Michael Scudamore, the 28-year-old trainer of Monbeg Dude, the Racing Post: “Mike spoke with Zara after the race and she thinks there are things she can do to improve his jumping. Sending problem jumpers to people connected with eventing seems to be the fashionable thing.
“You have to think that, if he can brush up his jumping, there will be plenty more improvement in him.”
Monbeg Dude was expected to spend up to a week with Phillips, probably at some point before Haydock’s Grand National Trial on 16 February, which is scheduled to be his next race.
