Joss Stone never locked house before murder plot

OHMYGOSSIP — Joss Stone used to leave the door to her home unlocked and alarm off before discovering two men were plotting to abduct and kill her, she told Exeter Crown Court yesterday (19.03.13).

Joss Stone used to leave the door to her home unlocked and alarm off before being the target of a murder plot.

The 25-year-old singer appeared at Exeter Crown Court, South West England, yesterday (19.03.13) to give evidence against Junior Bradshaw, 32, and 35-year-old Kevin Liverpool, who were arrested in June 2011 after being spotted acting suspiciously near her home in Cullompton, Devon.

Both men have been accused of plotting to murder Joss and were found carrying a Samurai sword, a lock knife, a hammer, balaclavas, black bin bags and notes of their intentions to kidnap and decapitate her.

The singer bravely took to the stand and admitted she previously didn’t worry about locking up her home as she felt so safe in the quiet area.

She told jurors: “I had an alarm but I didn’t really turn it on much or I didn’t really have a lock on my door – which I should have.

“I’ve lived in Devon for a very long time and nobody really shuts their door. Now I do obviously – I lock my door and shut my windows.

“People could just walk up and open the gate and drive in. They would come up to my kitchen and just say hello. Now I have a gate with a keypad, it’s more secure.”

Joss recalled the moment when the police visited her at home on June 13, 2011, to tell her of the plot.

She said: “The police came round about 12 o’clock and told me somebody was trying to kidnap me.

“Then they came back later and said, ‘No – they were trying to kill you.’ Apart from that it was a nice day.”

Prosecutors have claimed the two men, who drove 275 miles from Manchester with an “arsenal of weapons”, targeted the soul star because they believed she had links to Britain’s Royal Family after discovering she had attended the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William’s wedding two months prior to the plot.

The pair were arrested after “eagle-eyed” locals spotted them lurking outside the property and called the police.

Junior Bradshaw and Kevin Liverpool deny conspiracy to murder, rob and cause grievous bodily harm.

The trial is expected to last up to three weeks.
