Hilary Swank travels to Ethiopia for children’s charity

OHMYGOSSIP — Hilary Swank has travelled to Africa to learn about children’s education initiatives and raise awareness of their success. The actress has partnered with UNICEF and Montblanc to learn about child-to-child pre-primary education at the Dima Guranda Primary School in the Sebeta District, Oromia Region.

Montblac has helped establish 2,400 and rehabilitation of 800 Alternative Basic Education Centres reaching 846,000 children in Ethiopia.

Proceeds from every item in Montblanc’s Signature for Good collection sold in March 2013 will be donated to UNICEF’s education programmes, with a minimum of $1.5 million (£1 million) being donated.

Swank last week starred in Richard Curtis BBC One drama Mary and Martha, where her character Mary travels to Africa with her son.

Filming for that project took place in South Africa and the US.
