Kristin Davis: I should have adopted sooner
OHMYGOSSIP — Kristin Davis has revealed that she sometimes wishes she would have adopted a child when she was younger. The Sex and the City star discussed adopting baby daughter Gemma Rose during an interview on Good Morning America to promote her new Lifetime film Of Two Minds.
“It’s a lot of responsibility being a single mum,” she admitted. “In some ways, I wish I had come by it sooner, but then again, I wouldn’t have Gemma, so that would be bad.”
Davis also revealed why she chose to adopt an American baby, rather than a foreign-born child like her Sex and the City character Charlotte York did.
“I was very nervous about domestic… I had planned to do it internationally, but it was 3-5 years and I just couldn’t wait that long,” the actress said.
“Here in our country we have kids in need and the foster system is not a great option, so once I made the decision, it moved very quickly, and I have a beautiful, healthy baby girl.”
Davis previously disclosed that she’s found it very difficult to take time for herself since adopting Gemma Rose.
Her television movie Of Two Minds premieres Saturday, March 10 at 8/7c on Lifetime in the US.
