Demi Lovato: Mother helped me through rehab
OHMYGOSSIP — Demi Lovato‘s mother helped her to “get through” rehab. The 19-year-old singer — who was admitted to a treatment facility for three months in November 2010 to receive help for an eating disorder and self-harming — says her mother Dianna is her “anchor”, and has made her feel positive about her future once again.
She said: “My mother is everything to me. She’s my anchor, she’s the person I go to when I need to talk to someone. She is an amazing woman. I got through it with the support of people like my mother.
“You can only make it when you feel that you are loved, no matter what, when you feel that you will get another chance. I am grateful and I am ready to make this year a much better year. I feel great.”
Demi — who is still close friends with her former Disney costars Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus — explained she has come to realise how important a “good support system” is.
She added in an interview with the Daily Record newspaper: “It’s very important that you have a good support system, no matter what you do in life. And just because one friend says jump, it doesn’t mean you need to jump as well.
“Be careful of not being led in the wrong direction. And make sure you pick your friends wisely. You don’t want to hang out with the wrong crowd.”
