Johnny Depp is sorry
In an interview with Vanity Fair’s November issue, the actor compared having his picture taken to being raped. But now, the 48-year-old screen star is apologizing for his comments.
“I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way,” he says in a statement. “It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling.” Depp originally told Vanity Fair photo shoots were invasive to the point where “you just feel like you’re being raped somehow.”
Johnny Depp has also had much to say about Scientology. The actor admits to Vanity Fair that before he made it big, he attended Scientology study groups because they paid $3 per meeting. “I went to a bunch, man,” he says.
“It was great. It was so fantastic.” And how far he’s come since then. In August, Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio topped Forbes’ Highest Paid Actors in 2010 list. Depp brought in $50 million between May 2010 and May 2011. “Basically, if they’re going to pay me the stupid money right now, I’m going to take it,” he tells Vanity Fair. “I have to. I mean, it’s not for me. Do you know what I mean? At this point, it’s for my kids. It’s ridiculous, yeah, yeah. But ultimately is it for me? No. No. It’s for the kids.”
