Liam Gallagher: I don’t understand Radiohead popularity

Liam Gallagher has claimed that he doesn’t understand Radiohead’s popularity. The singer insisted that he has never listened to much of Radiohead’s material because he doesn’t “get” why they are so successful.

Gallagher told Q magazine: “I’ve never even heard OK Computer, but anything by Radiohead doesn’t make much sense to me.

“Everyone’s going on about Radiohead pushing things forward, but the only thing they’re famous for really is songs like ‘Creep’, innit?”

He added: “They then go off-roading for the rest of their career. I just don’t get it. I mean, we’ve all written songs like ‘Creep’, y’know, them classic songs.

“So that’s what makes them what they are. ‘Karma Police’ is alright, but it’s The Beatles, innit?”

Gallagher also revealed that ‘Who Knows’ by The La’s is the one song he wishes he’d written from the past 25 years of music, describing the track as “spooky and beautiful”.

The 38-year-old recently blamed his band Beady Eye’s failure to reach number one in the UK album chart on “the year of Adele”.
