Leighton Meester isn’t bothered by fashion

Leighton Meester is “not really fashiony” in her day-to-day life. The Gossip Girl star’s character, Blair Waldorf, may be label obsessed, but Leighton is adamant in real life she likes nothing more than hanging out in regular clothes such as jeans and T-shirts.

She told People.com: “At least in my daily life, I’m not really fashion. I appreciate the times I do dress up, like now, or on my show – when it’s important – and then when it’s not, I’m no slave to fashion whatsoever.”

However, she does concede that appearing on the show has affected her sense of fashion and helped her to understand her own personality better.

She added: “It inspired me. And doing my show, it’s also sort of helped me to decide who I really am.”

Leighton has previously said she hates being called a fashion icon.

She said: “Gossip Girl has absolutely changed my style. And living in New York I’ve become more brave and aware of fashion.

“I completely close my eyes to it when people call me a fashion icon because it’s an opinion from people that I don’t know. I wear what I like.”
