Mel Gibson & Oksana Grigorieva reach custody agreement
Mel Gibson has reached a custody agreement with his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva over their daughter Lucia. The former couple have reached a deal after days of negotiations regarding their 21-month-old child, with terms and conditions of the settlement being set at a hearing on August 31.
“As the result of a multi-day settlement conference, the Court announces that Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva have achieved a settlement in their ongoing dispute,” the Los Angeles Superior Court said in a statement friday night.
It has been announced that next Wednesday’s hearing will deal with financial terms, while the custody agreement will be discussed by Gibson and Grigorieva in private.
TMZ alleges that Grigorieva demanded “enormous sums of money” from Gibson during negotiations, though her proposals are believed to have been turned down.
She was previously reported to have requested $500,000 (£306,000) from Gibson for ‘traumatising’ her 14-year-old son during their infamous altercation in January 2009.
Gibson was sentenced to 16 hours of community service and one year of counselling after pleading no contest to misdemeanour battery charges in March.
Grigorieva later launched, then dropped, a domestic violence lawsuit against the actor.
