Jimmy Kimmel: Family teasing is a joy

Jimmy Kimmel has said that he takes pleasure in featuring members of his family in recurring guest spots on his ABC late-night series. The Jimmy Kimmel Live host admitted that he takes a certain enjoyment in coercing relatives into appearing in silly and occasionally risqué sketches.

“My cousin Sal, Uncle Frank and Aunt Chippy are regulars. My brother, parents and an occasional other cousin appear every once in a while,” Parade quotes the actor as saying. “I have a general rule: If you ask to be on the show, the answer is no. I am much more interested in unwilling participants.”

Kimmel was also questioned as to whether his two teenage children Kevin and Katie are impressed by his high-profile job.

“I’m pretty sure my kids don’t think I’m cool,” he replied. “Their friends might, but I think that has more to do with making them laugh than being on television.”

Joined by R&B group Boyz II Men, Kimmel offered up a heartfelt tribute to Oprah Winfrey this week as she wrapped up her talkshow after more than 25 years on the air.
