Hollywood “Walk of Fame” to welcome Colin Firth

British actor Colin Firth will receive the 2,429th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later today, near where he could be accepting the best actor Academy Award next month.

The star will speak at the 11:30 a.m. ceremony in front of the Pig n’ Whistle British Pub on Hollywood Boulevard, about two blocks from the Kodak Theater, where the Oscars will be presented Feb. 27.

Colin is tipped for Oscars success thanks to his role as British monarch King George VI in The King’s Speech.

Last year, the star was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a bereaved professor in Tom Ford’s directorial debut A Single Man.

In addition, he earned a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for the role.

He has already picked up a number of accolades for his role as stuttering King George — including the British Independent Film Award for Best Actor and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor.

Speaking about the character recently, Colin admitted it was a physical battle to prepare for the role.

“Some part of you goes there,” he said.

“I try to play it as the character would be experiencing it, which is to try not to do it. The sheer physical effort that requires had an effect on my whole body, and while shooting The King’s Speech I suffered from headaches.”
