Keira Knightley doesn’t waste money on clothes
Keira Knightley hasn’t let fame and fortune go to her head. The British star — who was once named the second highest paid actress in Hollywood, having reportedly earned $32 million in 2007 — says she still worries about spending too much money on clothes.
“Oh, I do like shopping, but only sometimes,” she said. “The other day I wanted to buy a Burberry coat. I went into the shop, tried it on, looked at the price, nearly died, and then bought it! It was so much fun, but I still have to tell myself it’s OK to do that — isn’t that mad?
“I was in Paris and they flew a hairdresser in from Venice, where she was working with Sofia Coppola at the film festival. She spent one house in Paris; cut my hair, and was flown back. Isn’t that mad?
“I don’t worry about what they’re going to do, I like seeing what they are going to do to me.”
Keira recently admitted she was on the verge of walking away from the movie industry a few years back because she “wasn’t enjoying” her Hollywood career.
“I think I intended not to work again. I wasn’t enjoying what I was doing and I felt terribly guilty about that. I remember hating the idea that I was in a privileged position and couldn’t see the point of any of it,” she said.
“I had worked solidly since I was 16, till 22, and I had not been on holiday in all of that time. I didn’t know if I was going to go back to acting at all. I think for a long time I thought I wouldn’t.”
