Portia de Rossi hoping to beat Ricky Martin in the book charts
The actress — who’s married to chat show host Ellen DeGeneres — keeps comparing sales of Unbearable Lightness to Martin’s latest tome as well as with those of other celebrities who recently released nonfiction books, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.
“She constantly asks for her numbers and other authors on the best-seller list,” a source said. “Especially Ricky Martin, who also writes about being a closeted gay.”
The former Ally McBeal star fell from the No. 5 spot to No. 15 this week on the New York Times nonfiction hardcover best-seller list, just five spots above Martin.
Portia recently revealed that DeGeneres — whom she married in August 2008 — “changed” her life.
“Ellen has completely changed the way I look at life. She has made me not worry about what other people think. I’m still working on that, I have to be honest,” she said.
“She has taught me that who I am is perfectly good enough…that I don’t have to pretend to be anything other than who I am, and that’s been the most incredible gift that she’s given me.”
