Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep teaming up for a movie
Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are teaming up for a movie. According to industry reports, the two actresses are in negotiations to star in the feature adaptation of Tracy Letts‘ Pulitzer-winning play August: Osage County.
John Wells would direct the film from a screenplay written by Letts for the Weinstein Co.
The play revolves around a family’s buried pains and present conflicts after its patriarch dies. Streep would take the role of the drug-addicted matriarch; Roberts would play the eldest daughter, whose estranged husband has had an affair with one of his students.
Streep recently said she’s pleased with the way her career has panned out, even though she isn’t a fan of all her work.
“I feel very privileged, very lucky and very happy, though I don’t think that every film I’ve ever done is brilliant,” she said.
“I’m not a producer — I just take interesting things that have come along.”
