Vicky McClure in the dark over Line of Duty future

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure doesn’t “know a thing” about the next series of ‘Line of Duty’.
The 34-year-old actress is set to reprise her role of DS Kate Fleming in the fifth season of Jed Mercurio’s police corruption drama, but she has no idea if her character will even live to see the end of the series.
She said: “I don’t know a thing about series five… you just hope you’re not dead too soon.”
And Vicky admits both she and Craig Parkinson, who played corrupt cop DI ‘Dot’ Cotton, were devastated when his character was killed off in the third series.
She told the i newspaper: “Craig was in it from the start and was killed off in series three, and I know it hit him pretty hard that because he loves the show.
“It’s alright when it’s right for your character but personally, it’s a real shame.”
Vicky’s co-star Martin Compston lives in Los Angeles, and he recently joked his friend is unlikely to follow in his footsteps because she “wouldn’t want to be more than 20 minutes from a 24-hour Greggs”.
And the ‘This Is England’ star admitted her “annoying little brother” is right as she is “very happy” in the UK and doesn’t feel like she’s missed out on opportunities.
She responded: “Yeah, but he can’t eat anything but chicken wings.
“No, Martin’s like my annoying little brother, I love him to bits, but he’s probably right. I get great work here, I have a very happy life here, I don’t feel I’m missing out on anything.
“But that doesn’t mean to say that if a great job came in I wouldn’t pack a case and then come back, but nobody’s ever asked me.
“I had an American agent once but it just didn’t work and I was really nervous every time she called. She’d say ‘Right, I’m going to get you to LA’. But to do what?”
In 2012, Vicky won the Best Actress BAFTA for her performance in ‘This Is England ’88’ but she doesn’t believe the coveted statuette had any impact on her career.
She said: “It still sits there on my shelf. I don’t think it’s the golden ticket, I still audition now and I still lose jobs I really want.”
