Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to conduct their first official joint visit to Scotland next week
OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to conduct their first official joint visit to Scotland next week. The royal couple – who are set to tie the knot in the spring – are to visit Edinburgh on Tuesday (13.02.18) to join locals in marking the Scottish Year of Young People 2018, BBC mediates.
The pair will visit the Esplanade near Edinburgh Castle to start with, and will be welcomed by the Royal Marines Scotland Band and then will be shown the One O’clock Gun being fired inside the castle. Prince Harry – who recently became Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Marines – and the ‘Suits’ actress will then head over to Social Bite, a social enterprise cafe that helps to give out 100,000 items of food and hot drinks to homeless people across the country every single year. The cafe also employs people who have been homeless in the past to help give them that break they need.
Social Bite offers many schemes to help the homeless, including adopting a ‘Pay it Forward’ system so customers can purchase food or drinks in advance for homeless people.
Harry and Meghan will then head to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where a reception will be held to mark young people’s achievements in Scotland’s Year of Young People. Representatives from charities and organisations will be present at the reception, where they will have a chance to discuss their plans for the years ahead and what they have undertaken so far.
