Courteney Cox: Emmy snub bruised ego

Courtney Cox says it “really bruised” her ego when she failed to land an Emmy nod during her time on US TV show Friends.

The actress — who played Monica Geller in the smash hit sitcom, which ran from 1994 to 2004 — was furious that all her castmates bagged a nomination in the best comedy performance category, but she didn’t.

“My ego got really bruised. When everyone did but me, that doesn’t feel good at all,” she said.

“There were certain years I thought, ‘Maybe I have a shot’, like the Monica-Chandler years. But I don’t know how it happens and why. Maybe I wasn’t ready.”

Cox — who’s married to actor David Arquette – recently revealed that she and her husband have couples’ counseling.

“We’ve done couples therapy in the past. We’re not lazy about our marriage,” she said last month.

“We have the same arguments we’ve had for years. Some things just never change, and you should realize that the intriguing things you fall in love with will probably become things you don’t like and the very things you’ll be talking about for the rest of your relationship.”
