OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Crown’ will return to screens on December 8.
The second instalment of the period drama, which is based on the lives of the royal family, will drop on Netflix in four months’ time as Claire Foy and Matt Smith reprise their roles as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, but this time around it will delve more into their personal lives as they welcome their sons Princes Andrew and Edward.
Speaking to EW.com, Claire said: “I think [Queen Elizabeth] starts to realize she needs to pay more attention to her personal life now that the other part of her life is going all right. The world’s changing faster than anyone can catch up with.
“There is no letup. She just keeps having to go from one crisis to another to another, and at some point, it’s about five crises at the same time and you have no idea how she manages to get up in the morning.”
The first series saw Queen Elizabeth settle into her role as the monarch, but Claire has teased that things will get complicated for her alter ego over the next instalment.
She explained: “She’s neglected her personal life, so there are all sorts of things she has to sort out. As politics change around them and as they become older, there are huge changes that take place in them as human beings. But to talk about [specifics] would give things away. You will have to watch!”
