OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Great British Bake Off’ contestant Tamal Ray is set to front a new health show on Channel 4.
The runner-up of the 2015 series of the baking competition is reportedly being eyed for his own prime-time health show to fill the hole left by ‘Embarrassing Bodies’ which ended two years ago.
Tamal will front the as-yet-untitled programme – which is being produced by ‘Bake Off’ creators Love Productions – alongside ‘Food Unwrapped’ star Kate Quilton.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “There’s been a real demand for health shows on Channel 4 ever since Embarrassing Bodies finished.
“And now Channel 4 have pinned their hopes on Love Productions, who make Bake Off, to give them a successful format that will prove to be a hit with fans.
“The new series will feature stories of people with all sorts of issues, such as back pain or booze troubles.
“They filmed a pilot called ‘Be Your Own Doctor’ but they’ve since changed the format to give it a different feel altogether.
“On top of everything, Tamal and Kate will be encouraging everyone to be healthy – which in a way is ironic, given that they’ve both been in shows making cake.”
For Kate, the hosting slot comes as she narrowly missed out on being named as one of the replacements for former ‘Bake Off’ hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, who left the show after it moved to Channel 4 from the BBC.
Instead, Sandy Toksvig and Noel Fielding were named as the show’s hosts, whilst Prue Leith will be joining the judging team alongside Paul Hollywood, who was the only original cast member to make the move to Channel 4.
