OHMYGOSSIP — Prue Leith is moving in with her husband – even though she didn’t want to for years.
The new ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge – who will be Mary Berry’s replacement when the baking programme returns to screens later this year – couldn’t bring herself to set up home with her husband John Playfair because she’s “anally neat” but has now decided to let go of her reservations and take the leap for the benefit of their love.
The 77-year-old restaurateur is now renting out her four-bedroom barn conversion in the Costwolds for £2,750 a month but she’s yet to find anyone to move in.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Prue’s renting out her home and thinks it’s about time to try living with John after they tied the knot last year. She hasn’t found a tenant yet but she’s had some interest since advertising it this month.”
Prue’s sudden change of heart no doubt came as a huge shock to John as she’s always remained adamant that she was interested in sharing a space with anyone.
She said last year: “John’s got a lot of stuff and I’m rather anally neat and tidy and I don’t want all that stuff in my house. And he doesn’t want me tidying it up.
“He does all his ironing and he cleans his shoes there and he keeps all his gear there. And I tell you what it’s the ideal thing.
“What you want – and what I get – is him without his clobber and without the responsibility of looking after his laundry or sewing on his buttons.
“We just want to be Mr and Mrs. It’s about happiness and commitment, to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health.”
