ITV commission pampered pooch series

OHMYGOSSIP — A new six-part series focused on pampered pooches is set to air next year.
ITV have commissioned a reality TV show – set in the same format as ‘The Only Way is Essex’ and ‘The Real Housewives Of…’ franchise – based on glamorous dogs and their breeders as the cameras follow their lives, including their training, in preparation for top competitions such as Crufts at the beginning of March.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Shows like ‘Real Housewives…’ and ‘The Only Way is Essex’ are a massive success because of their great characters, drama and competition.
“Dogs and the world of breeding and competition have all those ingredients and more. We’re a nation of dog lovers, so this is tipped to be a success with soap opera-style storylines as the dogs and their breeders are followed during their daily lives.”
Filming for the series, which is yet to be given a title, is expected to kick off next month and the show is likely to hit television screens a few months after the glamorous annual international canine event.
This isn’t the first time ITV have put together a series about the weird and wonderful behaviours of dogs, as just two months ago, a three-part documentary arrived on screens based on four litters of puppies as their journey into adulthood was captured on camera.
The tear-jerking series called ‘Puppy Secrets: The First Six Months’ also saw vet Mark Evans dish out some secrets on the puppy brain and how important the first eight weeks of their lives really are as they’re born incomplete and functionally blind and deaf.
He said at the time: “There’s no pre-wiring in a puppy’s brain to allow them to understand the world we live in. They need the help from us to be able to do it. What they have to learn is the strength and power of their bite. What they’ll learn, and it’s a really important lesson, is a thing called bite inhibition, which is how hard can you bite before it hurts.”
