Manchester by the Sea receives most SAG nominations

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Manchester by the Sea’ has received the most nominations for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
The Kenneth Lonergan-directed movie has been handed four nods, with Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams and Lucas Hedges all being handed nominations for their roles in the drama film.
The movie centres on a working-class family that is trying to cope with the stresses of multiple tragedies.
Elsewhere, ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Fences’ have each received three nominations, with both of the movies up for outstanding performance by a cast.
‘Fences’ stars Denzel Washington and Viola Davis have been nominated for lead actor and supporting actress, while Naomie Harris and Mahershala Ali have both been nominated in the supporting categories for ‘Moonlight’, which tells the story of a boy growing up gay and black in America.
Interestingly, ‘La La Land’ – which leads the nominations for the Golden Globes – has received two nods from SAG, with its two stars, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, having been nominated in the lead acting categories.
Other movies to have been handed two nominations include ‘Captain Fantastic’, ‘Lion’, ‘Hidden Figures’ and ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’.
Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield (‘Hacksaw Ridge’), Emily Blunt (‘The Girl on The Train’) and Dev Patel (‘Lion’) are among the British nominees for the SAG Awards, which are typically seen to be an indicator for the Oscars.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 29, with American actress Lily Tomlin set to receive the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award.
