OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas had hypnotherapy for his fear of spiders.
The ‘Emmerdale’ hunk is currently taking part in this year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’, in which he’ll be forced to share his bed with a number of creepy crawlies, and he has admitted he’s so frightened of the eight-legged critters that he once went to see a therapist, although the sessions didn’t cure him.
He explained: “I want to face my fears. I am so scared of spiders. It got so bad a few years ago that I went to see a hypnotist and that didn’t work. I’m scared of any insects – cockroaches – anything.”
The 28-year-old actor’s fear was so bad that he woke his fiancée Caroline Daly – who was pregnant with their two-year-old son Teddy at the time – to catch a tiny house spider crawling around their bedroom in the middle of the night.
He said: “I just hate them. When Caroline was nine months pregnant I spotted one in our bedroom. I woke her up and asked her to get of it. I was nearly crying and it was only small. I am such a wuss, especially with spiders.”
Caroline added: “I was fast asleep! I had to get out of bed and was on my hands and knees trying to get hold of this spider.”
Although he’s got a horrific fear of bugs, Adam is convinced he’ll be fine taking part in the Bushtucker Trials – famous for throwing critters on celebrities – in the Australian jungle.
He told OK! magazine: “I think I’ll be alright with those. But you never know how you’re going to react when you’re in there with the cameras on you. I think you just have to go for it. I’m hoping I can man up.”
