OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid doesn’t “remember” when she first started wearing high heels.
The 21-year-old supermodel – who began modelling at the young age of two years old after being discovered by Guess’ Paul Marciano – has admitted she can’t recall the first time she began wearing platform shoes because she never cared about the footwear and was more excited about riding boots.
Speaking to Vogue.com about footwear, Gigi – who has co-designed a capsule for Stuart Weitzman called the Gigi Boot – said: “I don’t remember the first time I put on heels. Maybe because I didn’t really care. I cared more about getting a new pair of riding boots than I cared about putting on heels.”
Meanwhile, the blonde beauty – who signed to IMG modelling agency in 2013 and has starred in a number of campaigns for renowned fashion brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Balmain, and Miu Miu – has revealed she is overcome with “hot sweats” when she sees her photo blown up on billboards.
Speaking previously, she said: “Now when I see myself on a billboard I can’t go near the block. I get hot sweats. So I ask my friends to send pictures to me because I can’t go anywhere near it.”
And Gigi – who is currently dating ‘Pillowtalk’ hitmaker Zayn Malik – believes she “isn’t the best” model on the runway.
She said: “It’s funny because obviously I’m not the best on the runway.
“I never was taught how to walk on the runway and maybe that’s because it moved really quickly for me that people just assumed that was something I knew. I’m working on it.
And Gigi has credited social media for getting rid of the “dumb model stereotype”.
She said: “We’ve just been given a gift as a generation of being able to show our own personality and have so much control over the person we are to the public, and not just being a face on a page. I think social media has taken the dumb model stereotype away.”
