DMX Joins Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour
OHMYGOSSIP – Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Family Reunion added another artist to its stacked lineup, branching out beyond the label’s family tree to recruit DMX for the trek. The Ruff Ryders rapper previously appeared during the tour’s opening show in Chicago September 1st.
Combs’ announced that DMX had joined the tour on Twitter Friday along with a video of the rapper rehearsing for the show and discussing his enthusiasm for joining the Family Reunion, which continues September 20th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“I’m just grateful to be a part of it and to be as successful as I’ve been,” DMX said. “To be a part of something that’s an epic tour, and clearly something that’s going to be historical… I do what I do. I bring me to the stage. To be a part of something like this is crazy.”
Although DMX was never a member of the Bad Boy roster, he is reuniting in a sense with fellow Ruff Ryders and Bad Boy signees the Lox, who are also taking part on the Family Reunion tour alongside Ma$e, Lil Kim, Faith Evans, Mario Winans, Total, Carl Thomas and 112.
Rolling Stone recently spoke to Combs about his epic family reunion, which the mogul admitted would likely lose money because of the scale of the tour.
“To be honest, for the amount of dates we doin’, I’m losing a lot of money,” Combs said. “This is not about the money. This is about the music. This is about the people putting on a great show and making sure that they see the legacy in the right way. Every night, what I do get is the priceless payment of people giving a standing ovation and dancing for two and a half hours. That’s the only payment I need. I can’t take no money with me. There ain’t no U-Haul truck,”
In February, DMX was hospitalized in stable condition after he collapsed in a hotel parking lot as a result of what was reportedly an asthma attack.
