OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is having more satellite channels installed at Buckingham Palace.
The 90-year-old monarch – who is a big fan of ‘EastEnders’, ‘Midsomer Murders’ and ‘Doctor Who’ – will return from her and Prince Philip’s Scottish residence of Balmoral to find the new dishes in place so she won’t miss out on any new shows.
A planning report obtained by The Sun newspaper stated: “Televisions within Buckingham Palace are fed by a signal distribution system that runs throughout the building.
“The system is now 12 years old and is to be replaced.
“We are looking to install the new satellite dishes during the summer recess when the Queen is at Balmoral.”
Elizabeth is known to be a big TV lover and as well as drama shows and the occasional soap, she loves talent show ‘The X Factor’ and has her aides record the programme for her.
In 2011, former contestant Mary Byrne, known as ‘Tesco Mary’ due to her working in the supermarket chain when she appeared on the show, revealed the monarch watched her on the programme.
After speaking to the queen, Mary explained: “She said, ‘You are the lady off ‘The X Factor’. Your song was fabulous’.
“I asked if she watched the show. She said, ‘It could be too late for me but I do watch it the next day’. They record it for her.”
An undercover reporter, who worked at Windsor Castle, once claimed dinner was served late one evening because the queen was watching ‘EastEnders’.
