David Beckham has been ruled out of the World Cup by his surgeon
Dr. Sakar Oravi confirmed that the footballer´s ruptured Achilles tendon has been repaired, but he´ll not be fit in time for this summer´s tournament in South Africa, Sky News reports.
Dr Orava, who operated on the midfielder yesterday in Finland, said: “The operation was done, it went well & it will take many months for him to recover.” He added that there is “no chance” the former England captain might make the “World Cup” finals, which begin on June 11.
Beckham will have his foot in a cast for the next six to eight weeks, after which he will begin “more vigourous” physiotherapy. Dr Orava said that he will be discharged from his care on Tuesday, before spending the next three to four months on the sidelines.
David Beckham, the ex-Manchester United star, twisted his left ankle during the final minutes of a match for AC Milan on Sunday.
