Peter Facinelli and Jaimie Alexander call off their engagement

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Facinelli and Jaimie Alexander are no longer engaged to wed, their representative has confirmed. The 31-year-old actress became engaged almost a year ago (Mar15) to the 42-year-old Twilight actor, with the pair first meeting on the set of Loosies in 2012, shortly after he separated from his now ex-wife Jennie Garth.

But wedding planning has concluded for these two, with their representative telling People.com in a statement released Friday (19Feb16): “Due to conflicting family and work commitments on opposite coasts, and after much consideration, Peter and Jaimie have chosen to part ways amicably and remain good friends.”

Peter shares three children with former spouse Jennie, who he divorced in 2013 after 12 years of marriage, but Thor star Jaimie doesn’t have any kids of her own.

The breakup may come as a shock to some fans, however, in an interview with Shape magazine released earlier this month (Feb16), Jaimie confessed she never considered herself the marrying type before dating Peter.

“I never saw myself getting married or having children,” she told the publication. “It just wasn’t on my agenda. But being with Peter is the best-case scenario, because he has these three beautiful kids and I’m so happy to be in their lives.”

Although the former couple has decided to call it quits, they seemed to have experienced some serious highs during their romance, as Peter proposed Jaimie at the top of the Empire State Building in New York. Should they have continued to advance in their plans to marry, this would have been Jaimie’s first marriage and Peter’s second.
