Vernon Kay jokes about Tess Daly’s Spanx at British Takeaway Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Vernon Kay joked that he was wearing a pair of his wife Tess Daly’s Spanx control pants at the British Takeaway Awards last night (09.11.15).

The 41-year-old presenter and his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star wife Tess were the hosts of the awards ceremony at The Savoy Hotel in London last night and he kicked off the night by joking about his love of takeaways.

Speaking at the event – hosted by Just Eat – Vernon said he’d already tucked into a Chinese takeaway, adding: “Don’t worry, I’ve got a pair of Tess’ Spanx on.”

Tess – who has daughters Amber and Phoebe with her husband of 12 years – teased him back by saying that her control pants clearly hadn’t had the desired effect.

She joked: “They’re not working are they?”

The couple continued to poke fun at one another throughout the evening with Vernon joking that Tess “likes a big one” as he pulled out a selfie stick to take a picture of the guests.

In addition to the owners and employees of takeaways that had been nominated for the awards, a number of celebrity guests were also in attendance including former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ stars Joey Essex and Lauren Pope, TV chef Ainsley Harriott, ‘This Morning’ presenter Alison Hammond, Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon and ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Rosie Fortescue and her former co-star Millie Mackintosh.
