Blake Shelton sues tabloid over fake cover story

OHMYGOSSIP —  Country singer Blake Shelton has filed a lawsuit against InTouch magazine for running a story several weeks ago indicating the celebrity had entered rehab.

Reportedly filed Monday with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the defamation lawsuit is demanding over $1 million in damages over the false cover story which blamed his and Miranda Lambert‘s split on alcoholism. Published in September, the story also claimed Blake Shelton, 39, cheated on his divorcing wife before being admitted into rehab.

“Blake Shelton has had enough,” the suit’s first sentence reads, according to reports. “Mr. Shelton is not in rehab and has no plans to go to rehab.”

The InTouch story in question also asserted the false allegation Shelton had “hit rock bottom,” without consulting with the singer or his legal representatives for confirmation. According to the suit, Shelton previously pursued a retraction of the story but heard nothing back from the magazine.

The Voice coach is also seeking an injunction to prevent the tabloid magazine from repeating the false allegations in its publication.
