Gemma Arterton ‘doesn’t covet’ particular jobs
OHMYGOSSIP — Hollywood star Gemma Arterton says she doesn’t chase particular acting jobs. The 29-year-old stage and screen actress, who recently starred opposite Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick in ‘The Voices’, said that although she’s played the part of “classic literary heroines” during her career, she doesn’t seek out specific roles.
She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Having played Tess [of the D’Urbervilles] and Elizabeth Bennet, I seem to have a thing for classic literary heroines.
“But I prefer to see what comes along rather than coveting particular roles.”
Meanwhile, Gemma recently claimed she’d never live in the US because people in the country don’t understand her sense of humour.
The actress – who was born in Kent, south east England – said the problem is that people think she’s being serious when she’s often trying to be sarcastic.
She explained: “I love Europe, I live between here [London] and Paris. I like going to America, I’ve got lots of friends there and I go there for work but I just can’t imagine living there.
“I also like our sense of humour and I always struggle when I’m over there because people don’t get my sense of humour and they think I’m being serious all the time.”
