PICTURE! Julianne Hough dyes hair ‘unicorn’ pink
OHMYGOSSIP — Julianne Hough has dyed her hair “unicorn” pink and advised fans on what colours will suit certain eye and skin colours but warned that pastel colours are a high-maintenance look.
The ‘Safe Haven’ actress – who cut her long blonde locks into a short bob last year – has followed in the footsteps of fellow stars January Jones and Hilary Duff by dying her hair a pasted shade and has revealed the inspiration behind her choice of colour.
She wrote on her blog: “I love to experiment with my looks by the way of beauty products, styling tools and sometimes even taking things a step further. Remember last year when I chopped off all my hair? It was a big, bold move but it was so worth it!
“It felt liberating not to hide behind all that hair. So why did I decide on the colour pink this time? Because pink is the colour of kindness!”
The 26-year-old star had some words of advice for any of her fans who decided to copy her new look, warning them that it’s a high-maintenance style.
She explained: “If you’re thinking to yourself, ‘No, I really am a unicorn!’ and you want to go for it roots to ends – I respect that. My best advice is to please see a professional. Keep in mind that all-over bleach will result in roots about every four-six weeks, so be ready for that touch up. Don’t embarrass your stylist by not keeping your unicorn magic. This look can go from hot to hot mess really easily.”
Julianne – who has beautiful blue eyes – also claimed people looking to use a pastel dye should pay attention to their own eye colour.
The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ professional added: “Something about purple hair and green eyes always works. Blue eyes can pull off pink so well. With brown eyes it really depend on skin tone, but they have the most potential to pull off all colours.
“A side not for you au natural ladies: you may feel the need to wear more makeup than usual with rainbow coloured hair. Very few unicorns are able to pull of the undone/natural look.”
