Ed Sheeran waiting to celebrate
OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran can now celebrate his British Male Solo Artist win at tonight’s (25.02.15) BRIT Awards with MasterCard, after performing his track ‘Bloodstream’.
Ed Sheeran won’t be celebrating his British Male Solo Artist win until after he’s performed at the BRIT Awards with MasterCard.
The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker – who picked up the gong at tonight’s (25.02.15) ceremony at London’s O2 Arena – is hoping to avoid the cameras later so he can toast his success.
Speaking to the show’s hosts, Ant & Dec, after his win was announced, he said: “I’ve got to perform and then I’ll drink. Don’t film me later!”
Ed – who is also nominated for British Single, British Artist Video of the Year and the prestigious MasterCard British Album of the Year – dedicated his first win of the night to the departing head of TV promotions at his record label, Atlantic Records, Deirdre Moran.
Accepting his award, he said: “Thank you very much; that’s a good way to start the night. The first year I came to the BRITs was 2011 and I met my TV girl there, Deirdre Moran, and she’s taken me through every single TV show I’ve ever done. And she’s leaving; this is the last thing she’s ever doing today so I’d like to dedicate this award to Deirdre.”
And the 24-year-old singer will probably be glad when the show ends, after admitting earlier that he “can’t breathe” in his suit.
Speaking on BBC Radio 1 before the event, he said: “I can’t breathe in my suit by the way.
“It was tailor-made for me when I was a bit thinner and I’ve had some milkshakes since then.”
Ed has since taken to the stage to sing a track off his album, ‘X’, titled ‘Bloodstream’.
