Jessica Alba designs necklaces for charity
OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Alba has teamed up with jewellery designer Jennifer Meyer to create two heart-shaped necklaces in aid of (RED), a charity dedicated to fighting AIDS.
The ‘Sin City’ actress has teamed up with jewellery designer Jennifer Meyer to create two heart-shaped pendants in aid of (RED) – an organisation dedicated to fighting AIDS.
The necklaces come in either 8k gold, retailing at $280, or 18k gold adorned with rubies, retailing at $980, and are available to buy from Gilt.com from today (04.02.15).
All net proceeds will go to the Global Fund, a beneficiary of (RED) – providing nine or 27 months of lifesaving medication to HIV-positive mothers-to-be in Africa.
Jessica – who has two daughters, Honor, six, and Haven, three, with her husband Cash Warren – told WWD: “We realised that hearts were a perfect metaphor for this project…it’s an easy, elegant design that women can keep close to their hearts.
“It makes so much sense for us to collaborate on what we love, use the power of our platforms, and amplify what we do to help eradicate one of the worst diseases.
“Helping women and children has always been a priority for me.”
Jennifer – who has been close friends with the 33-year-old star for almost 10 years – added: “We’re both moms so it really hits home.
“Imagine that feeling of transferring something to your child. It’s the worst thing in the world, and there are ways to prevent it.”
