Kristin Cavallari felt used by MTV
OHMYGOSSIP — Kristin Cavallari has admitted that she felt used and manipulated by the producers of MTV’s reality show, ‘Laguna Beach’, which she appeared in aged 16.
The 27-year-old – who was recruited to appear in reality television show, ‘Laguna Beach’, at just 16 – has blasted the series she once appeared in.
She said: “I felt very, very used and manipulated.”
Kristin also spoke up about how difficult the show made life for her.
She explained: “I was a junior in high school and MTV showed up and did open casting. You grab this 20-page packet and then they would take your Polaroid, and from there, they did on-camera interviews. They sort of narrowed it down to these eight people.
“We had no idea what we were doing. We were just going along with whatever MTV was telling us to do.”
Meanwhile, Kristin has revealed that she felt the show changed her as a person.
Speaking on ‘Oprah: Where Are They Now?’, she said: “Being 16, 17 in high school, not knowing really how to handle your emotions or even realising what’s going on, I put up a wall. I put up a really tough exterior because I felt like they were really trying to take advantage of me.
“When I saw it air and saw the way that they represented me, I was really, really upset. I cried for hours and hours after I saw the first episode.”
Kristin has offered advice to any young people considering taking part in a reality show.
She shared: “I still to this day think that you should be 18 to do a reality show! Only because of my experience.”
