Tom Parker-Bowles: Duchess Camilla is a brilliant mother and grandmother
OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Parker-Bowles has praised his mother Duchess Camilla as a “very good” mother and a “brilliant” grandmother. The duchess – who married second husband Prince Charles in 2005 – is dedicated to her family, including her children Tom Parker-Bowles and Laura Lopes and five grandchildren, and her son is very impressed with how well she has adjusted to royal life.
Tom said: “She is a brilliant grandmother. I mean, she works incredibly hard. She’d be the first to say that she didn’t really have a job apart from being our mother, which she was very good at, and suddenly age 55 she is working.”
In 1993 – when Tom was studying at Oxford University – news broke of his mother’s affair with Charles, with a transcript of an intimate telephone conversation made public but the food critic refused to read any of the coverage because it was so personal to Camilla.
He told the Times newspaper: “I sort of remember not looking at the paper. Because, you know, Jesus, the things that we’ve all said to people that we love … that you wouldn’t want the world reading.
“I just felt p***ed off. I wasn’t going to read that sort of stuff about my mother, just as much as she wouldn’t want to read it about me or my kids certainly wouldn’t want to read it about me.”
