Steve Carell to star in new Verbinski film

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Carell has been cast in Gore Verbinski’s new film, an as-yet untitled paranoid thriller. The 52-year-old actor is moving away from comedy and has signed up to appear in Verbinski’s as-yet untitled paranoid thriller.

Steve Conrad – whose previous work includes ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ – has penned the script and shooting is scheduled to start in March.

Plot details are being kept under wraps at this stage and it has not been revealed who Carell will be playing.

The movie will be the first of a multi-film deal for Verbinski who is set to work on a horror flick written by Justin Hythe after shooting wraps on the thriller and he will then follow that project up with a comedy entitled ‘Passengers’ – which has also been written by Conrad.

Carrel can next be seen in Disney comedy ‘Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’.

He was recently announced as Zach Galifianakis’ replacement in ‘Freeheld’, the Peter Sollett-directed film which is based on the 2007 documentary about Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree.

The story for ‘Freeheld’ centres on their fight to amend the Domestic Partnership Act, which affords pension benefits to domestic partners of all New Jersey public employees.
