OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett is to host a new Channel 4 game show. The 36-year-old comedian will present ‘The Love Trap’, which will see losing contestants exit the show through a trap door. The premise of the eight-parter will see 12 female contestants trying to win the affections of one man over a series of dates. A source told The Sun newspaper: “’The Love Trap’ is an amazing new concept from Channel 4 and it really is brutal. “It’s reality TV and a game show all rolled into one and will explore how people form genuine relationships and connections. “There are 12 female contestants who, over a series of dates, will try to win the heart of one single man. “But out of those dozen women, only half of them are genuine. “The single man is tasked with working out who really wants to date him and who just wants the big cash prize — a five-figure sum — at the end. “Each of the female contestants will be going all out to prove they are genuine and the man will then dump whoever he thinks is trying to con him through the Love Trap. “He needs to be shrewd however, as dumping the wrong women will leave him with more money- grabbers than genuine lovers.” Former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ contestant Joel, who hosts ITV show ‘The Masked Singer’ and its spin-off ‘The Masked Dancer’, said it’s the perfect role for him because he loves “lying, love and trapdoors”. He said: “I love lying, love and trap doors so it’s all I’ve ever wanted. “It’s genuinely a huge idea and I’m excited they have trusted me at the helm.”
