Betsey Johnson launches activewear line “BJ Kicks A”
OHMYGOSSIP — Fun-loving designer Betsey Johnson’s quirky “BJ Kicks A” sportswear collection is finally available for purchase. The 72-year-old designer debuted her sporty collection during her 2013 ‘BJ Kicks A’ runway show, which saw the energetic star lead 20 activewear-clad models down the runway for a full-on workout including crunches and push-ups, and the line has only just been finished.
The fall 2014 collection – which features plenty of Betsey’s signature pink – is focused on performance as well as style.
It boasts nylon spandex leggings, heat-retaining zip-up jackets and sweat-free T-shirts embellished with fun fashion details like fishnets, peplum structures, bows and jacquard patterns, according to WWD.
Betsey said: “BJ loves kicking A! I’m so excited about the collaboration for the new activewear collection, which I feel has the perfect mix of performance, prettiness and punk.”
The eccentric designe might be famed for ending her shows by doing a cartwheel, but she never works out and previously joked, “I joined every gym there is and never went”.
The star is keen to make other women’s workouts more fun, however, and took so long to finish the line because she wanted to make it perfect.
Prices range between $49 and $120 and the clothing is available from Nordstrom stores in the US as well as Nordstrom.com, Macy’s website and Betsey’s own site.
