Miuccia Prada now co-CEO of brand
OHMYGOSSIP — Miuccia Prada is now her own boss after becoming co-CEO of the brand, alongside her husband, Patrizio Bertelli. The fashion designer has stepped down from her role as the company’s chairman and is now known as the co-CEO of the brand, in addition to her role as executive producer.
She is joining her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, who has the same title, and her previous position will be filled by former deputy chairman, Carlo Mazzi.
According to WWD, it is not thought the 64-year-old entrepreneur will gain any new powers with the position, but she will now be able to dedicate her time solely on “style and communication”.
A company statement said that Miuccia will “concentrate on the day-to-day management of the business by devoting her time to guiding the further development of the Group, mainly in the creative design and brands communication activities”.
The move is said to be “a natural extension of the role she has already played in the Group’s development and will be beneficial to the Group’s long-term growth and progress”.
Last week, Prada reported a nine per cent rise in revenue over the past year.
The brand was founded by Miuccia’s grandfather, Mario Prada, in 1913 and she took the reins in 1978, along with her husband, later introducing women’s ready-to-wear collections in 1989.
