Daisy Lowe wants to knit her own clothes

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Lowe would like to knit her own clothes but thinks it will be “a long time” before she can master the art.

Daisy Lowe wants to knit her own clothes. The 24-year-old model launched a week-long series of free fashion knitting classes at department store John Lewis on London’s Oxford Street this Monday (14.10.13) to support Campaign for Wool as part of UK Wool Week, and is hoping to perfect the craft with the help of her friends.

She said: “My friend knitted this dress as a present for me, can you believe it! I want to get good at knitting, so many of my friends do it now, they love it. I think it will be a long time before I can make a dress like this though!”

‘Made In Chelsea’ star Oliver Proudlock joined a knitting class earlier last night (17.10.13) to show his support for the initiative, which encourages the use of wool in the fashion industry.

He is hoping to release his first knitwear range for his contemporary fashion label Serge DeNimes.

Proudlock said: “I’m definitely going to start knitting, it’s so relaxing. I used to think it was a really feminine hobby but if Ryan Gosling can do it, then it most definitely isn’t! It’s so social as well, you can knit and chat, knit and chat.

“I’m thinking of bringing my first knitwear collection out next season which is a totally new thing for Serge DeNimes, it would really help if I could hand knit some prototypes.”

Campaign for Wool – which Prince Charles is patron of – supports the use of wool in fashion items as it involves far lower carbon emissions than man-made fibres, making it a naturally sustainable product.

UK Wool Week takes place from 14th-20th October.
