Queen Elizabeth dresses exhibited at Hillsborough Castle

OHMYGOSSIP — Outfits worn by Queen Elizabeth during recent state visits to Northern Ireland have gone on display at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.

An exhibition of Queen Elizabeth’s dresses has opened at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland. Outfits worn by the British monarch during state visits to the country in recent years have gone on display at the castle in County Down.

The collection of six outfits includes the dress worn by the 86-year-old queen during her Jubilee visit to Northern Ireland last year and the outfit she wore during a visit to Dublin in May 2011.

Other outfits that hold significance are a green one worn while meeting Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuiness, and an outfit worn while meeting Irish president Mary McAleese.

Five of the outfits were designed by the queen’s personal dresser and assistant Angela Kelly, while the sixth outfit was created by Karl Ludwig.

Northern Ireland’s secretary of state Theresa Villiers previously said: “It is always a great privilege to have Her Majesty The Queen’s outfits on display at Hillsborough Castle. This year we have secured the exhibition for an extra month so that many more visitors to the castle will have the chance to admire the collection.”
