OHMYGOSSIP — Margaret Berger, who represented Norway in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, was back on stage in Trondheim this week, not far from where she grew up in Hitra. She was excited to face local fans, but also finds fame outside the country.
27-year-old Margaret Berger represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, finishing in fourth place with the song “I Feed You My Love”.
“Eurovision is high on the list of the Swedes, so it was there I was recognized on the streets,” Berger told NRK’s P3 before performing live at the large VG-lista Topp 20 outdoor concert set for Trondheim’s central square on Wednesday. “That was really something!”
Berger’s career has blossomed since she won Norway’s Eurovision preliminary, Melodi Grand Prix, and went on to place fourth in the huge European song contest which was held in Malmö, Sweden in May. She described the weeks since then as busy, but fine.
“It’s been a fine blend of working in the studio, holding concerts, practicing and getting going with a music career,” she told P3.no. “I’ve started the work that will let this moment continue.”
Berger has been on a TV talk show in Germany, been recording in Gothenburg and scheduled for several concerts at summer festivals in Norway including Trænafestavalen on the Helgeland coast and Slottsfjellfestivalen in Tønsberg. She’s also been making various professional contacts in Norway, Sweden and Finland and working on a new album that she says is a combination of songs recorded before Eurovision and five new songs.
