Fox plots Dodgeball sequel
OHMYGOSSIP — 20th Century Fox has ordered Clay Tarver to write a sequel to ‘Dodgeball’, the 2004 hit comedy starring Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn.
20th Century Fox is planning a ‘Dodgeball’ sequel.
The movie studio and Ben Stiller’s production company Red Hour – which produced the original film – have hired Clay Tarver to pen a script for the proposed movie, which would be a follow-up to the 2004 hit comedy starring Stiller and Vince Vaughn as rival gym owners who form dodgeball teams, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The sequel will reportedly focus on Vaughn’s Peter La Fleur and Stiller’s White Goodman putting their differences aside to tackle a more menacing threat to their respective businesses.
‘Dodgeball’ was a big hit, grossing more than $160 million on a modest $20 million budget.
A sequel to the comedy has long been rumoured but never came to fruition.
Vaughn will next be seen reuniting with ‘Wedding Crashers’ co-star Owen Wilson in ‘The Internship’, a comedy about two businessmen who find themselves out of jobs due to the rise of digital media and stumble into internships at Google.
Meanwhile, Stiller – recently starred in ‘The Watch’ and lent his voice to ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ – is plotting a sequel to another of his past movies, ‘Zoolander’, in which he starred as a self-absorbed fashion model.
