Shaun Wallace calls for diversity to be added to school curriculum

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaun Wallace thinks diversity and culture should be added to the school curriculum.
The ‘Chase’ star would like to see black history incorporated into school lessons as he feels it is important to learn about the culture of all in order for young people to have a “greater understanding” of all citizens of the UK.
He said: “We do live in a diverse culture.
“One question I was asked the other day was about whether we should incorporate black history and other forms of culture in our curriculum. I say yes, we should have traditional teaching subjects like maths, history and science – but we live in a diverse culture. In order for us to have a greater understanding of its citizens, we should have a greater understanding of where they come from in terms of history and culture.
“I think that on the school curriculum, culture should be taught in terms of the citizens they represent and I think that will give a greater respect for the citizens of this country.”
Shaun was pleased to see the Black Lives Matter movement come to the fore earlier in the year, but he feels “momentum has slowed” for now.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: “When you have a watershed moment like George Floyd, it captures attention worldwide. Sadly I think the momentum has slowed somewhat, the people protesting are the young who will be leading tomorrow and as long as they have that fire in that belly, they can finally break that cycle of racism.”
Meanwhile, Shaun previously revealed he is keen to retain his ‘Dark Destroyer’ nickname.
The ‘Chase’ star insisted he isn’t offended by the name, despite recent suggestions that it carries offensive undertones.
He explained: “It was actually Bradley [Walsh] who started to call me the Dark Destroyer, and there was absolutely no side or sinister reason behind it. So no, Britain may be less PC, but guess what? I am proud to be black.
“If ITV were to ask me, or consider changing it, then I would tell them this, ‘I am proud to be black, I am proud to be dark. I want the name to stay as it is’. And because of my intellect – and I destroy people because of my intellect – then so be it.
“That’s the way I use the term the Dark Destroyer, and I am not offended. And I hope other people aren’t offended either.”
